Achieving freight cost reductions without service compromise
Since 1988 AMS has assisted hundreds’ of Companies, large, medium and small to reduce “supply chain costs” whilst still maintaining customer service levels.
At the forefront of their Logistic management skills is the FREIGHT MANAGEMENT SERVICE achieving an average reduction in domestic transport costs of 14.6% for their clients! Once these initial cost reductions are achieved AMS will manage the account checking and verification of freight invoices, which includes the claiming of overcharges from weekly accounts as well as monitoring the actual spend and use of carriers services. Invoices are processed within 5 working days and passed to the client for payment to the carrier direct, supported by a full distribution and cost summary report. The outcome of this monitoring is discussed with the client’s management team on a regular monthly basis.
One of the more recent developments as an outcome of the AMS management system is to analyse the “Cost to Supply”, which involves a segregation and analysis of the freight cost as a percentage of the sales invoice value. Using the latest data capture techniques of dispatch information reveals when compared to consignment sales value “how much the real cost is to supply clients” and the impact this is having on sales margins. Over recent years this “revelation of true costs” is changing the current procedures and methods employed to fulfill and dispatch client orders. AMS consultants’ armed with this information work with their clients’ to remove unnecessary costs and drive down the Freight expenditure.
AMS are consultants not brokers and therefore do not work for a percentage of the saving or take a margin of the freight rates from the transport supplier to the client. Having a total impartial approach to what supplier would best service the needs of the client to improve / maintain customer service whilst also reducing costs should be the key objective of a true transport consultancy service. Subsequently AMS stands out above its’ competitors with its’ unique service offering total transparency of methods and costs. Management fees are agreed to following the initial appraisal of freight expenditure and methods employed and remain constant through out the task.
AMS Consultants believe their success and recognition as an Industry leader is due to not only their total independence but also the highly qualified team of experts which form the “asset base” of the consultancy, each complimenting one another with in-depth knowledge and a focus on a specific area of the supply chain. Amongst his peers in the world of logistics, the firms founder and principal Larry Smith enjoys an impeccable reputation – well deserved after a distinguished career of more than two decades in warehousing, distribution and the freight forwarding industry before entering the consultancy service. His consultancy background exceeds twenty years, which when coupled with the cumulative depth of skills and experience of the AMS management and staff, creates one of Australia’s leading logistic advisory services.
